I liked the end-to-end encryption option and the option to use a variety of my own cloud services to sync. Have rich formatting options like tables, check boxes, lists/tiered lists, etc. Being able to insert files, images, audio into pages. I cant say it meets all of your needs, but it met all of my relatively simple ones. In any case, the best cross platform alternative resembling OneNote was Joplin for me. Of course MS is going to screw it up by forcing it to be a UWP app instead of a desktop program, but when you eat at the MS table there is no menu. I was a heavy OneNote user on the Windows side of things (still am at work, try to avoid using it at home). Lots of good responses here and certainly worth checking out all the recommendations. I used to use Tusk and generally the webapp in Browser approach was a good one, but then to my cost I found that Evernote has a bug that looses formatting (especially loosing all bullet indents!) when switching between the windos app and webapps, so I now avoid webapp and use Evernote app in Win and on Android, and Nixnote2 on Linuxīut, a negative result isn't no result and I learnt of many alternatives that I didn't know before so thanks very much indeed In most cases the breakers were that I just want a WYSIWYG editor, that the import of Evernotes must be possible and the notes still look good, that there is a webclipper, and that it isn't just another paid or going to be paid service. I Had a quick play around with the alternatives on the list below, and have concluded that to do everything I want to I have to agree with dagorret above that Evernote still serves all my personal needs best - it is kind of all singing all dancing - I'm not a power user or anything its just that I use it for many different things / in different ways
